Essential services remain open
The Ontario government has ordered most workplaces to close; and continue their operations through online and innovative business models—more on that below! The complete list of essential businesses allowed to remain open for visitors includes, but is not limited to:
- grocery stores
- pharmacies
- restaurants for takeaway and delivery only
- food banks and shelters
- post offices
- veterinary clinics
- gas stations
- automobile repair
- beer, wine and liquor stores
How to support local during COVID-19
- Purchase food from local shops and producers when possible
- Get your coffee beans and teas from cafes in the neighbourhood
- Order meals to-go or takeout and delivery from restaurants
- Buy merch from local shops or businesses online
- Purchase gift cards to use at a later date
- Amplify local businesses on social media, leave them a review and share their posts
Buy gift cards
Visit our Shopify store to browse for gift cards. Before the Ontario government ordered closures, many Vanier businesses opted to close in the interest of community health; to limit the spread of COVID-19. You can support your favourite businesses directly by purchasing gift cards for future use.
Online services and shopping
So many Vanier businesses are still open or offer online shopping and services—and this list is growing as more businesses shift to online models and adapt to COVID-19 for the safety of their employees and customers.
