SUMMARY:ALSO's 4th Annual Banned Book Night
DESCRIPTION:ALSO is hosting their 4th annual Banned Book Night. \nLocal authors will be reading from their favourite banned books. This year\, Lady la Profeta will be performing. There will be finger foods and drinks\, a fabulous silent auction as well as a book booth set up by Octopus Books. Enjoy evening in celebration of literacy\, the freedom to read and local authors/storytellers. \nThis event will have ASL interpretation and is open to both the hearing and Deaf communities. \nMonies raised from tickets sales and the silent auction will directly benefit ALSO and the adults and families they serve in the Ottawa community. \n— \nALSO is an adult learning program offering both in-person and on-line tutoring\, in English and ASL\, supporting the development of the skills needed for employment\, further education or training and increased civic participation helping each student to imagine a better life. They meet each person where they are enabling them to commit to learning and to imagine a different future for themselves. ALSO is a small program doing great things. They have a significant impact on the lives of the adults and families they serve. They work with an extraordinary staff/volunteer team and Board of Directors each giving generously of their time\, expertise and skills allowing ALSO to continue supporting Ottawa adults and families who need them most.
