For nearly 25 years, EcoEquitable has been a hub for sewing in the Vanier community.<\/p>\n

EcoEquitable is a registered charity that works to reduce textile waste and empower women in the community, all through the art of sewing.<\/p>\n

\"Vanier is really amazing because we have a lot of supportive people here<\/em>,\" Carolina Nino, the Program and Volunteer Coordinator at EcoEquitable said.<\/p>\n

Nino says that they offer a lot of sewing programs for the community.<\/p>\n

\"Our main program is Sewing for Jobs, supporting new commerce<\/em>,\" Nino said.<\/p>\n

The award-winning course is designed to equip women experiencing barriers to employment and newcomers with both sewing and business skills.<\/p>\n

In addition to Sewing for Jobs, EcoEquitable also offers public sewing classes.<\/p>\n

EcoEquitable sells premium fabrics, ranging from $5 to $25. They have wool, cotton, linen and quilting fabric available for sale.<\/p>\n

\"My favourite part is attending customers<\/em>,\" Nino said. \"It's not just selling fabric, we are always supporting the customer. We are designing together.<\/em>\"<\/p>\n
