Rima from Mille Fiore Flowers on the unique rewards of her business
For me, running a flower business was just meant to be. I went to school to become a florist, studied for a year and, when my husband and I were looking to start our own business, we bought our shop from Flower Mania.
It was originally just down the street from where Nature’s Buzz on Beechwood is now. We bought the shop and stayed there for five years before we moved to this location a few doors down. All our customers are here – we can’t go far because we don’t want to lose them.
I love everything about flowers. I like doing weddings; I even like doing funerals. I love serving customers, listening to them. When they come here, they always have a story – they might tell you about their mother who has just died, or they tell you about their wedding coming up.
At the end of the day, it’s all about customer service, and we try to do our best. As a small business, that’s all you can do.
We try to give back to the community. Every year we donate poinsettias to the local churches for Christmas. And for Easter we donate Easter lilies. We donated flowers to the Beechwood Dinner in the summer. We try to give back to the community as much as we can, because they have given so much to us over the years.
