Salim El Ajouz, Owner 

Starbite is a classic diner located on Montréal Road, founded on principles of quality, creativity and community.  

“I’ve been in small restaurants, big restaurants, fancy restaurants and all kinds of cooking,” says owner and chef Salim El Ajouz. In his thirty years in the industry, he has been the executive chef at several restaurants and can now usually be found in the kitchen in his own restaurant. “I love when I see people happy with the food, with smiles on their faces, so I choose to do my own cooking.” 

His passion shows in the menu – the restaurant uses high quality locally-sourced ingredients, original recipes and housemade sauces. While they have a good selection of salads, desserts and appetizers (and some of the best thick-cut fries in the city), the restaurant’s main attractions are their great hamburgers, sandwiches and wraps. Salim recommends the Number 92 – an all-beef patty on a freshly sliced sesame seed roll, topped with bacon, onion, lettuce, pickle, tomato, and a fried chunk of mozzarella, and finished with jalapeño jam, confit garlic aioli and the restaurant’s signature sauce.
