We’re excited to share a new partnership built around two things Vanier has in abundance: dogs and great local businesses.
Through the Ottawa Humane Society’s Dog-Friendly Business Program, participating businesses get promoted to a citywide community of pet owners through OHS’s website, newsletter, and social channels. And ahead of the launch of OHS’s new community clinic in the Vanier/Beechwood area, they’re offering membership at no cost to eligible Vanier BIA businesses.
What you get as a Dog-Friendly Business
- 🐾 A welcome post on OHS’s social media when you join
- 📩 Ongoing promotion through their community newsletter
- 📦 A welcome package to help you launch
- 🗺️ A featured spot on the Dog-Friendly Business webpage and map — a resource pet owners actively use to plan where they shop, eat, and hang out
For businesses along Beechwood, Montréal Road, and MacArthur — where dog walkers are already part of the daily rhythm — it’s a low-effort way to grow foot traffic and land on a citywide radar.
How to apply
Applying takes just a couple of minutes. Make sure to mention your Vanier BIA membership in the form or when messaging OHS — that’s how they’ll bypass the standard payment step.

A quick note: OHS reviews each application to make sure businesses meet the program’s qualifications. The free membership offer removes the cost — not the criteria.
