Exciting changes are coming to the southeast corner of Montreal Road and North River Road! As part of the ongoing Montreal Road Revitalization Project, the final design for the Public Art Corner is now complete, and construction is scheduled to begin Monday, July 28, 2025, with work continuing into the fall.
This phase will focus on landscaping and streetscaping, transforming the intersection into a vibrant and welcoming public space. Improvements are based on extensive public consultations and have been fine-tuned to meet both aesthetic and functional needs.

Montreal Road (Eastbound): Right lane closure between Montgomery Street and Cummings Avenue Bridge

North River Road (Northbound): Right lane closure from Selkirk Street to Montreal Road
⏰ July 28 to October 15, 6 am – 3 pm (weekdays) -
Note: Pedestrians will be redirected to the opposite sidewalk; cyclists will be required to use a vehicle lane.

Key Design Updates

Tree pits will now feature open, mulched curbs instead of iron grates to support healthier tree growth.

Planters at the east end have been straightened and lengthened to fit property lines and grade.

Bike racks will be split evenly on both sides of the plaza for improved accessibility.
The art installation itself will follow the completion of landscaping and private-side improvements, with an official opening ceremony date to be announced.
The BIA is also working closely with Hydro Ottawa to complete electrical hookups at the site, including a high-power feed at Dupuis Plaza, expected this summer.
